The Loras College men's tennis team has two of their last six duals, but lost four in a row as the 2012 regular season winds down. Their wins have come over Simpson and Aurora University.
Over the last two weeks, the Loras College men's tennis team posted a pair of wins on the Loras College tennis courts and will look to do the same this weekend when they host Wheaton College and Ripon College on April 21.
The Duhawks recently won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches over Simpson College in Dubuque. Jon Moore, Jeff Kasel, Justin Gonner, and Justin Steines logged the singles wins. Moore's victory required a tiebreaker. In doubles, Moore teamed with Brian Falvey for a 9-7 win and Kasel teamed with Tyler Livingston for an 8-2 victory.
On April 12, the duo of Moore and Falvey were once again victorious with a tiebreaker win at #1 doubles and added straight set singles wins against Aurora. Steines added his second straight win at #6 singles as well to help Loras to a 5-4 victory.
Since that wins, the Duhawks have dropped 8-1 matches to IIAC foes Luther, Cornell, and Dubuque. They also competed in a non-conference match against UW-LaCrosse, but fell 9-0 to the Eagles.
Wins during the losing streak have come from Justin Steines (#6 singles vs. Dubuque), and doubles pairs Ken Tucker and Garrett Prusha (#3 vs. Luther) and Jon Moore and Brian Falvey (#1 vs. Cornell).
Loras will host Ripon and Wheaton this Saturday in their final competitions of the 2012 season. The first match will begin at 9:00 am against Ripon. The Wheaton matches will start at approximately 3:00 PM.
