RESULTS

The Loras women's track and field team produced 114 team points at Saturday's University of Dubuque Invitational to reach second place in the team standings ahead of next weekend's Iowa Conference championship meet.

The field events produced two event champions and two more runner-up spots on Saturday. Freshman Morgan Steere and senior Meggan Elsen won throwing titles in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. Steere's 41'-0.50" effort was enough to win the event by 2.25" inches over Beloit's Amani Edwards. Elsen's first toss of the day of 49'-10" held up through six rounds of throws as the best on the day among the 23 entrants.

Laura Wondra was runner-up in the Long Jump with her final leap of the day of 16'-7.25", moving up one spot from her third jump on the day which would have placed her third. Caitlin Groeper reached the 5'-3" mark in the High Jump to match the winning height and earn second place points for the Duhawks.

On the track, Loras posted fifth place finishes in the 55 Meter Dash (Molly Pilcher), 400 Meter Dash (Briauna Richardson), 800 (Katie Flogel), and 55 Meter Hurdles (Emily Ruhser). Emily Sotelo was a step faster in fourth place in the hurdles. Richardson was also fourth in the 200 Meter Dash.

A trio of pole vaults went 3-4-5 for the Duhawks – reaching the 10' height with two other competitors to score 15 more team points.

Next up is the 2012 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships at Cornell College on February 25th. Loras will look to improve on last year's fourth place finish.
