On February 11, the Loras College volleyball team opened the doors to the Athletics and Wellness Center and welcomed over 100 members of the Dubuque Y Sports Association's (DYSA) volleyball program.

As part of the free clinic offered through DYSA participation, third through seventh grade players were invited to the AWC for skill instruction and mini-games. Loras College's team, under the direction of head coach Teresa Kehe, served as the clinic's coaches.

Kehe expressed how much everyone involved benefited from the day.

"Working with the youth from the Dubuque Y was a very worthwhile and rewarding experience for our volleyball players and coaches," she said.

"We provided them fun activities to enhance their volleyball fundamentals and encouraged them to work hard, be enthusiastic, use teamwork, and learn to do the basics well."

The DYSA volleyball program, which began in 2010, currently includes 200 girls. The DYSA website notes the group's focus on their "Six Pillars of Character" – trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and friendship.
