After qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in November, making the All-Central Region Team, as well as the All-IIAC Academic team sophomore Jerry Olp, junior Austin Steil, and senior Dan McDermott have been once again recognized for their talents.

This time, it comes as a result of their work in the classroom.

The trio earned spots on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America's (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. By carrying cumulative GPAs greater than 3.3 and finishing on the All-Region list last season the Duhawks earned spots on the list of 141 runners.

"These three have proven time and time again to me that they embody the term student-athlete," head coach Bob Schultz said.

"Their successes on the course and in the classroom are a testament to their constant hard work in both venues."

McDermott, Olp, and Steil were the top three scored places on the Duhawks' 25thplace team at the 2011 NCAA Championships. With three spots on the USTFCCCA's list, Loras placed the most runners on the team among Iowa Conference schools.
