Wondra shares Long Jump title at Platteville

The Loras College women's track and field team had top-3 finished in a total of seven events at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational on Saturday. Not team scored was kept at the event, which featured athletes from 10 schools.


Headlining the Duhawks' finishers was Laura Wondra, who tied for first in the Long Jump with her best effort of 16'-3.25". Addy Rickels of Luther matched that distance to share the title. Loras' outright winner was the 4 x 200 Meter relay team of Briauna Richardson, Wondra, Emily Sotelo, and Emily Roth. That group posted a 1:49.75 – the 8thfastest time in program history – to in the event by 1.78 seconds over Platteville's team.


Runner up finishes came from the 4 x 400 Meter relay team, Katie Flogel, and Mary Rector. Flogel's 5:32.50 in the Mile was the top Division III result, a half a second ahead of the third place finisher from Wisconsin Lutheran. Rector posted the sixth best effort in Loras' history in the 5,000 Meter Run. She finished her race in 19:00.54.


Caitlin Groeper tied for third in the High Jump at 5'-2.25". Emily Ruhser was also third in the 60 Meter Hurdles with her time of 9.80 seconds.


Meggan Elsen's Weight Throw also made the Duhawks' top 10 list. Her 48'-4" toss was the best non-Division I effort on the day and placed her 8thon the Duhawks' all-time list. She was fifth overall.


Loras will be down the street at the University of Dubuque for the Spartan Invitational this Saturday.
