Loras 69, Simpson 58

Despite falling behind early in the game to the Simpson Storm, the Duhawks collected their 10th win of the season defeating the Storm 69-58 on Wednesday night.

With the victory Loras' record moves to 10-7 overall, and 5-3 in the Iowa Conference, while the loss put the Storm at 12-5, and tied with the Duhawks at 5-3 in the conference.

Simpson started the game strong maintaining a lead well into seven minute mark of the first half before the Duhawks shot their way into the lead, shooting fifty-two percent from the field in the first half.

In the second half Loras pulled ahead by seven points before the Storm started to chip away and tie the game with less than twelve minutes remaining.

Simpson took a 47-44 lead with 8:34 left in the game, but Loras responded by embarking on a 16-3 run and holding the Storm to only one basket in the next seven minutes.

The scoring touch of senior Lindsey LaBadie, who had an aggressive 19 points and 8 rebounds, and junior Kelly Rogowski, who contributed 14 points led the way on the offensive end. The Duhawks benefitted from the charity stripe as well, converting 28-of-40 free throws, compared to Simpsons 6-12.

Loras look to improve on their two-game winning streak when Coe College comes to the AWC, Saturday at 2:00 PM.
