The Loras College men's and women's cross country teams each finished in fifth place at the Iowa Conference Championships in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday.
For the women, Tara Kilburg (23:52) and Hannah Weiss (23:56) each came in under 24 minutes. Kilburg was 14th overall and the Duhawks' lone All Iowa Conference performer. Weiss was 16th. Kilburg took two second off her time from the October 10 race in Waverly.
They were followed by Erica Stevens (24:14), Ashley Schoenoff (24:38), Meghan Wolett (24:57), Maria Kalb (25:04), and Genna Kinley (25:18). Erica Stevens improved her time from three weeks ago and Schoenoff ran the same time.
The Knights won the meet on their home course and sophomore Anna Kraayenbrink won the race in 22:49.
On the men's side, Tyler Meyer and Dan McDermott finished 17/18 in 27:16 and 27:22 to lead the Duhawks. Dain Leytem turned in the other sub-28 minute time with a 27:38 (25th). Rounding out the Loras scoring were Mike Higgins (28:03), Ryan Engelman (28:07), Austin Steil (28:38), and Tom Henders (28:39). Meyer was the only Duhawk to improve from his October 10 time, posting a time six seconds faster than the previous race.
Cornell's Andrew Tobben won the race and Luther claimed the team title.
Loras now preps for the NCAA Division III regionals in Grinnell, Iowa on November 14.
