The Loras College wrestling team won twice on Saturday at Knox College's Chuck Porter Duals in Galesburg, IL. Pat Pfantz, Matt Holmes, Joe Wood, and Josh Kirkland each won at least three matches on the day, including a perfect 4-0 from Wood and Holmes.

Loras started with an 18-15 win over the University of Chicago. Josh Kirkland's pin at 4:57 of the 184-pound match proved to be the difference, as each team won five bouts. Pat Pfantz, Matt Holmes, Joe Wood, and Mitch Gansen each won decision in their matches to score Loras a total of 12 team points.

Round Two saw the Duhawks win three times, but fall to Wabash 25-11. This time it was Joe Wood scoring the bonus points. His second period tech fall - along with Tom Gross' big third period and Matt Holmes 8-3 win – earned Loras' points.

The Duhawks were back in the win column after round three – a convincing 42-6 win over host Knox College. Mitch Gansen, Mike Gossen, and Matt Holmes all earned first period pins. Other wins came from Pfantz, Kirkland, Joe Butler, and Chris Reed. Reed was dominant in his 17-3 win. Ryan Ward won by forfeit.

The final dual of the day pitted the Duhawks against IIAC rival Luther College.

Loras won six of the 10 matches, but falls at 141 pounds, 165 pounds, and heavyweight cost the Duhawks in the team standings. Each of Loras six wins were decisions. Pat Pfantz scored four points in the third period to win his match 7-5. Holmes won 8-1. Joe Wood prevailed 6-3. Chris Gansen won 3-0. Joe Butler finished ahead 7-4. And Kirkland scored three late points to win 5-4.

Loras moved to 2-13 in duals this season with the 2-2 record in Galesburg.
