Loras 74, Elmhurst 67

The Loras College women's basketball team returned to the central time zone after a convincing win over Peace College on December 17 and picked up where they left off following the nearly two-week layoff. Loras scored a season high 74 points en route to the seven point win over the nine-win Bluejays of Elmhurst College.

Lindsey LaBadie set the tone on offense, scoring seven points in each half to tie for the team high with 14. Joining LaBadie with 14 points was Kelly Rogowski, who scored 10 points in the second half. The pair combined to score Loras' final four points from the free throw line down the stretch. LaBadie added a team high nine rebounds and also dished out eight assists to fill up her line of the stats sheet. Melissa Herrmann was the other Duhawk in double figures with 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting.

Loras erased a four point halftime deficit by shooting 48% in the second half and forcing Elmhurst into eight turnovers. The home team went just 7-for-15 from the free throw line while the Duhawks went 15-for-17 over the final 20 minutes.

Niki Rivera logged 14 minutes in her first action since returning from a wrist injury and netted a pair of three-pointers to finish with six points and one rebound.

Loras' bench outscored Elmhurst's bench 28-6 and won the rebounding and turnover categories.

Loras used long distance shots from Katie Wheeler and Rogowski to take the lead with 7:29 to go and held the lead down the stretch. Seven different players recorded steals for Loras and the team shot 83% from the free throw line for the game.
