The Loras College football team dropped their final home game of 2009 to the Coe College Kohawks 38-13 on Halloween afternoon. The Duhawks were as close as 10-7 and 24-13, but never led in the game. The Duhawks have scored just six first quarter points in their eight games this year.

The Duhawks showed flashes of positive production, but in the end, they ran 30 fewer plays than the Kohawks in the loss. Coe posted 463 yards of offense to Loras' 163. Most notably, the Kohawks earn the check mark in time of possession, holding the ball for over 40 minutes of game time and went 9-of-14 on third down to keep drives moving. Their scoring drives were of 46, 82, 64, 69, 69, and 74 yards.

Brandon Decker (3 yard run) and Walt Labuz (26 yard pass) reached the end zone for Loras. Vaughn Gesing went 13-for-23 for 128 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the passing game. Gesing's interception was the only turnover of the game.

Coe quarterback Brad Boyle filled up the stats sheet going 25-for-39 in the air for 338 yards and running for 17 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Takes caught two touchdown passes and ran for another.

Fifteen seniors were honored before the game in a ceremony alongside their parents. Tyson Beckman, Brody Budmayr, Taylor Buhmeyer, John Diekman, Beau Evans, David Kierna Jr., Kenny Kikilas, Matt Maginot, Shane Martin, Kale McCormick, Kyle McCormick, Marty Mikaitis, Chris Reardon, Grant Smith, and Chris Swift each suited up in their home purple jerseys for the final time.
