Loras 87, Oshkosh 71

The Duhawks and Tim Kelly made the most of their one-game trip to America's playground on December 22nd. Just a couple days removed from their loss at the University of Northern Iowa – Loras bounced back with a 16-point victory - their largest of the season - as the calendar year 2011 came to an end on the basketball court. The return to the win column was in large part due to the career day from senior Tim Kelly.

Kelly scored 16 points in each half and knocked down each of his 11 free throw attempts on his way to his career high 32 points. He also made each of his three long distance attempts and added six rebounds, two assists, and two steals to his memorable Las Vegas afternoon.

Jordan Harrelson, Dan Pawelski, and Brian Gaughan each made four field goals. Each of Gaughan's shots were from three-point land and he finished with 12 points. Harrelson and Pawelski each had eight.

After trading baskets early in the first half, the Duhawks broke a 19-19 tie by going on a 15-4 run, eventually outscoring the Titans 25-13 over the final 10 minutes of the opening half.

After 44 first half points, the Duhawks put up 43 over the final 20 minutes to finish with a season high 87 points and 31 made field goals. Loras finished at 53% from the field (31-58), 50% from long distance (9-18) and 80% from the free throw line (16-20).

Loras is now 3-8 as the calendar turns to 2012 and the Iowa Conference schedule heats up. Only IIAC games remain on the schedule.

The Duhawks will rest until their January 4thdate with crosstown IIAC rival University of Dubuque. Tipoff is set for 8:00 PM, following the women's game, and can be heard locally on AM-1490 WDBQ.

The AWC half of the league contests is one month later on February 4th.
