Loras 62, Peace 37

The Loras College women's basketball team took their long distance trip to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the Peace Pacers on Saturday as part of their holiday break and promptly defeated the hosts, 62-37.

The Pacers were held to 27% shooting while the Duhawks were busy taking high percentage shots. Loras won the battle in the paint 24-8 and the Duhawks bench scored as many points, 37, as the Pacers team.

Katie Wheeler came off the bench to lead all scorers with 13 points in 22 minutes. Katie Langmeier was everywhere in her 20 minutes – scoring nine points, pulling down 10 rebounds (including five on the offensive glass), adding four assists, five steals, and a blocked shot.

In total, the visitors logged 21 assists on 23 field goals and opened a 33-19 halftime lead the Pacers wouldn't be able to cut into. The Duhawks would go on to win by their largest margin so far in 2011-12.

Next up for the Duhawks (5-5) is a road game with the Elmhurst College Blue Jays in suburban Chicago on December 30. Tipoff is 3:00 PM and Duhawks fans and friends will gather following the game. Details on the event will be available later this week.
