Young headlines All-Region women's soccer selections

Seniors Kate Young, Jessica Kern, and Katie Chambers join sophomore Kinsey Campbell on the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Region team this week.


Young earned a spot as a first team forward, Chambers and Campbell were on the second team, and Kern was a third team selection.


Each of these four Duhawks were first team All-Iowa Conference picks this fall.


Young departs second on Loras' all-time assist list and is third in career goals and points. She scored a team high 13 goals and added eight assists this season.


Kern leaves among Loras' top ten in goals (7th, 23) and assists (t-3rd, 32). She scored seven goals and had eight assists this season.


Campbell and Chambers anchored a defense that allowed just 17 goals in 22 games, a goals against average of 0.76. Chambers' senior season finished with a .063 goals against average and 42 saves. She is second on Loras' all-time shutouts list with 22 and owns the program's best career goals against average, 0.66.


Loras finished 2011 18-3-1 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships after winning both the regular season and IIAC tournament titles.
