Duhawks offered helping hands earlier this year

Earlier this fall, the Loras College Men's Basketball team volunteered their time to Camp Albrecht Acres in nearby Sherrill, Iowa.

The Duhawks provided some man power for the non-profit organization with a day full of maintenance and manual labor.  The coaching staff and players worked mostly outdoors to clean up the wooded land and high traffic areas of the 40-acre campus.  In one day's work the team was able to once again help the appearance and function of Albrecht Acres so that they may offer the best service they can to the people who utilize their services.

Albrecht Acres provides "a unique environment for people with special needs" in the tri-state area.  Activities offered by Albrecht Acres include nature study, camping, fishing, swimming, dances, nature trails, hay rides, volleyball, and disc golf.

The staff at Albrecht Acres were loud and clear about their gratitude.

"Coach and entire Duhawk team, wow! You have no idea how grateful we are for all your help," said Sheila Vandermillen, Camp Assistant. "Our director was surprised you were able to get so much done. Amazing."
