Duhawks earn second dual win of 2011-12

Loras 131, Augustana 100


The Loras College women's swimming team earned a 31-point win over Augustana on Friday evening, 131-100, winning eight events.


The Duhawks started and ended the dual meet with the Vikings wins in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.


Jillyn Gerken and Katie Callaghan were a part of both teams. Helping post the 2:00.73 in the 200 Medley Relay was Stephanie Czarobski and Clare Ehlbeck. Alex Proctor and Renee Beach teamed with Gerken and Callaghan in the 200 Freestyle Relay to squeak out a 0.09 second win – finishing in 1:46.66.


Individually, five different Duhawks won events.


Laura Danay won the 1,000 Freestyle in 12:05.30. Katie Callaghan won the 100 Butterfly in 1:03.87. Marguerite Del Vecchio won the 100 Backstroke in 1:06.29. Abby Tjebkes won the 100 Breaststroke in 1:15.76.


Alex Proctor doubled up with wins in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle. She posted a 25.63 in the 50 and 56.04 in the 100.


At the conclusion of this week's final exams, the Duhawks will head to Jupiter, Florida for their annual training trip.


They'll return to San Jose Pool for their annual matchup with IIAC foe Luther College on January 7. That dual will begin at 1:00 PM.
