The Loras College men's swimming team finished in fourth place at the Grinnell Pioneers Classic over the weekend. Among the highlights were the three school records set by freshman Jake Bridenbaugh.

The Peoria, Illinois native won the 100 and 200 Backstroke races and the 100 Butterfly in record times in Grinnell over the weekend to lead the Duhawks.

He won each race by at least 1.9 seconds and accounted for a total of six top five finishes for the Duhawks – his three individual races and three relays he swam on. At 24 team points each, he logged 72 of Loras' 594 team points with his individual wins.

Shane Garren, another first-year swimmer, was second in the 1650 Freestyle (17:47.92) and was followed closely by Ricky Lukacs (18:16.95), who finished fourth.

Bridenbaugh, Andy Pape, and Lukacs combined with Matt Bogen in the 800 Freestyle Relay and Tom Graziano in the 400 Freestyle Relay for a pair of third place finishes.

Matt Ostbloom finished fourth in the diving competition to earn 19 team points.

Loras will host their first home meet of the 2011-12 season on Friday when the Augustana Vikings come to the San Jose Pool. The first race will begin at 6:00 PM.
