Perfect in Pink

The Loras College volleyball team looked strong in front of a large home crowd on Wednesday night when they swept cross -town foe Clarke College, 3-0. The win came on Think Pink night, when Loras raffled off over two dozen "Pink" prizes, offered a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going to the Maria House in Dubuque, and all gate receipts were handed over to the Breast of Friends organization here in Dubuque. In addition to the giveaways and raffles, Loras coordinated with local health officials to provide information to those in attendance about breast cancer and women's health.

The Duhawks hit a season high .312, and put down a season high 43 kills (in 3 set matches). Danielle Lewis had 12 of the kills and Brittney Westermeyer was close behind with 10. Julie Rogers had 38 assists in just three sets. Three Duhawks, Michelle Bahl, Rogers, and Natalie Roling each had double-digit digs on the night. Roling and Regan Riley added three aces each to help Loras to one of their most convincing wins of the year.

It was the second annual Think Pink Night hosted by the Duhawks, when the team wore pink jerseys to help promote awareness. They are in Wisconsin at UW-Eau Claire this weekend and have Iowa Conference matches with Cornell (road) and Coe (home, senior night) remaining in the league schedule.
