Duhawks drop a pair on the road around Thanksgiving
Mon, Nov. 28, 2011 - [Women's Basketball]

The Duhawks made separate trips to River Forest, Illinois and Oshkosh, Wisconsin around the Thanksgiving holiday last week, losing their first two games of 2011-12.

Dominican 62, Loras 58

Katie Wheeler came off the bench to lead the Duhawks with 10 points, but Dominican overcame a four-point halftime deficit to take the win last Wednesday.

Loras won the board battle 38-29 and committed one less turnover, but made just eight second half field goals en route to the loss.

Melissa Herrmann and Kelly Rogowski each scored eight points and Katie Langmeier chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.

The Duhawks held a 58-55 lead with 1:41 to play, but turned the ball over twice and missed two field goals as the game closed on a 7-0 Stars run.

UW-Oshkosh 67, Loras 57

The Duhawks made eight field goals in each half in Saturday's loss to the UW-Oshkosh Titans in their 2011-12 home opener. Lindsey LaBadie led the Duhawks with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting (and added six rebounds) and Katie Wheeler scored 12 on 5-of-7 shooting.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Titans scored 10 straight points to start the second half when Oshkosh's Katie Kitzke knocked down two long distance shots for six of her 19 points.

Loras went 16-of-16 from the free throw line in the second half to help chip away at the host's lead – which was down to nine points with just over a minute to go. In the end, the 20-of-23 from the free throw line by the Titans in the second half and 33% shooting from the floor by the Duhawks were too much to overcome.

Loras heads to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Wednesday to take on the defending Iowa Conference champion Kohawks. Tipoff is 6:00 PM.
