The Loras College women's cross country team placed ninth out of 27 teams at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The women scored a total of 253 total places to put them behind eighth place St. Benedict with 220 total places and in front of Grinnell College with 260 total places.
Loras senior Genna Kinley led the Duhawk squad with her 20th place finish at 22:47, sophomore Mary Rector and junior Katie Flogel rounded out the top 41 spots in the field finishing 23:13 and 23:32, respectively.
Senior Katie Hemesath finished 77th with a time of 24:12, sophomore Kellie Wagner followed at 84th with a time of 24:29, and rounding out the squad junior Maria Kalb and first-year Hallie Martin with times of 25:48 and 26:03, respectively.
Wartburg College won the championship with a total of 63 total places, Carleton College finished second with 85 total places; both teams earned automatic qualification into the NCAA DIII National Championships.
The Loras team will not make the cut to compete at the National Championships in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Nov.19, but senior Genna Kinley will represent the team with her individual qualification to compete next week.
