Kilburg, Duhawks claim victory at Tucker Invite

The Loras College women's cross country team won the Dr. Robert Tucker Invitational on Friday with a dominant team score of 16 at the Dubuque Soccer Complex. In a field of three teams and 40 runners, the Duhawks came to the finish line in each of the first four scoring spots, as well as sixth.

Junior Tara Kilburg took home first place with her 24:05, four seconds faster than teammate Hannah Weiss who was runner up. Erica Stevens rounded out the Loras trifecta in a time of 24:12. Freshman Ashley Schoenoff was fourth in 24:28 and Genna Kinley was sixth in a time of 24:47.

The top finishers by the other teams were fifth place by North Iowa Area Community College and twelfth by Lincoln College.

The Duhawks now prepare for the Iowa Conference Championships on Halloween. Loras will return to the site of the Dan Huston Invitational on October 10th and look to improve on their third place IIAC finish in 2008. On October 10, Loras was also led by Weiss (23:52) and Kilburg (23:54) when they finished sixth in a field of three Iowa Conference schools. Mary Bridget Corken won the IIAC race a year ago for the Duhawks in Storm Lake, Iowa.
