Luther 2, Loras 0

Wednesday night brought together the two teams that currently sit atop the Iowa Conference standings as Loras traveled to Decorah to take on Luther College.

The two nationally ranked teams played with the Iowa Conference lead on the line. #7 Loras entered the game unbeaten in 14 matches, while #24 Luther had won 11 in a row.

In the first half, the Duhawks outshot the Luther 7-6, but the Norse were able to find the back of the net twice on senior goalkeeper Nate DuBois and the Duhawk defense, who also had two saves.

Goals by the Norse's Brock Arend in the 27thminute and James Garcia-Prats in the 32ndminute would be all the Norse needed to win the game and put an end to the Duhawks streak.

In the second half Loras came out with a flurry of shots. The Duhawks took 19 shots compared to the Norse's four  in the second half.

With nine saves in the second half alone and 10 overall for the Luther goalkeeper, the Norse were able to defeat Loras 2-0. Luther improved to a record of 6-0-0 in conference, and 13-2-1 overall, while Loras fell to 5-1-1 in conference, and 13-2-2 overall.

The Duhawks have two matches remaining on the regular season schedule and have the benefit of both at the Rock Bowl. Loras will have its ‘Senior Night' when it hosts Washington University (St. Louis), Oct. 23, at 11:00 a.m. On Wednesday, Oct. 26, the Duhawks will close out their conference schedule when they host Cornell College at 8:00 p.m.
