Loras 5, Simpson 0

The Loras College women's soccer team moved to 5-0-1 in the IIAC and won their 12thgame of 2011 on Saturday, blanking the Simpson College Storm in Indianola, 5-0.

The Duhawks scored three times in the opening 17 minutes to take control of the game early on goals from three different players. Kate Young opened the scoring in the 10thminute – her team high ninth of the year on a Jessica Kern assist.

Kern followed with the first of her two goals just four minutes later. Kern cleaned up a Danielle Vujovic effort to make it 2-0. Three minutes after that, Young found Tonya Lohmeyer for Loras' third goal.

Loras held an 11-2 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes. Loras goalkeeper Katie Chambers made both saves on those shots to keep the Storm off the scoreboard.

The second half yielded two more Duhawk goals. Kern netted her second of the day early in the half, her fifth of the season, when she slid toward Ali Schmitt's cross to make it 4-0. Vujovic closed the scoring in the 65thminute for her sixth goal of the year.

Through six IIAC games, Loras has outscored league opponents 22-2.

Loras will be in Decorah on Wednesday to take on the Luther Norse (8-6-1, 4-1). Kickoff is 5:00 PM.
