Central 70, Loras 7

The Central College Dutch came to the Rock Bowl and scored touchdowns on their first five possessions to take control of Saturday's IIAC football contest with the Duhawks. Loras was within two scores at the end of the first quarter, but weren't able to keep pace with the Dutch.

Loras received the opening kickoff but went three-and-out and the Dutch took control at their 33-yard line. Central used two big pass plays on their first possession to take a 7-0. Loras went three-and-out on their second possession and then left a shorter field for Central for their second offensive series. The Dutch went to the ground for their second score, covering 41 of their 49 yards with the running game.

Loras' next two possessions showed marked improvement. The first covered 26 yards and included two first downs, but ended suddenly after a fumble near midfield.

After Central took a 21-0 lead, the Duhawks went 59 yards on eight plays to reach the end zone. Gavin Kaiser set up the Duhawks on a first and goal after a third down catch from Vaughn Gesing that went for 28 yards. Gesing took the next snap and left the pocket to find first year wide receiver CJ Daniels in the end zone for his first career Loras College touchdown.

Central quarterback Nate Snead threw for one touchdown and ran for two more in the second quarter to open up the lead the Duhawks wouldn't be able to recover from. The dual-threat Snead finished the day with two rushing touchdowns and 27 yards on the ground and threw for four touchdowns and 347 yards.

The Dutch came out in the second half and posted three more touchdowns to take a 63-7 lead after three quarters and added one more in the fourth quarter.

Loras posted 130 total yards and had the ball for 25:23 of the sixty minutes. Central gained 626 yards and had the ball for 34:37.

Devin Kass was limited to 45 yards on the ground. Gesing threw for 81 yards. Kaiser caught five passes for 48 yards, including two for first downs.

Defensively, Eric Meyer had 12 tackles, two for loss, and Zach Myers had 11 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Loras stays in the Rock Bowl next Saturday to take on the Coe College Kohawks at 1:00 PM.
