Loras 1, Wartburg 1, 2OT

A day removed from cracking into the Continental Tire NSCAA National Poll, the #20 Loras College women's soccer team hosted the ninth ranked Wartburg College Knights on a damp Wednesday night in the Rock Bowl.

The Duhawks and Knights played to a 110 minute 1-1 tie and remain the only two unbeaten teams in the Iowa Conference. Loras is now 4-0-1 in the league and the Knights are 3-0-1.

Wartburg struck first in the ninth minute on a corner kick. Anna Aquino's pass to the back post dropped to Katy Wendt, who scored her sixth goal of the year in traffic to give the visitors an early lead.

In a carbon copy imprint of the Knights' goal, the Duhawks went down two minutes later and did the same. Ali Schmitt's corner kick pass in the 11thminute landed in traffic in front of the Wartburg goal where Madeline Tennant forced home the equalizer.

The next 90 plus minutes were spent trying to break the deadlock in the league's premier regular season matchup as the Duhawks tried to stay unbeaten at home in 2011.

After the first two combined shots on goal went in, the next nine were all saves. Katie Chambers needed to make one save in the second half on Wartburg's Kaylee Benning while Monica Noti made eight, including two in double overtime to keep things knotted at one.

One of those by Noti came on a chance by Jessica Kern halfway through the final overtime. Noti's save left a rebound for Kate Young to put towards the Knights' goal while Noti recovered – but the bouncing ball could only be sent over the crossbar by the Duhawks' leading goal-scorer.

Loras will travel to Simpson College on Saturday and kickoff with the Storm at 1:00 PM in Indianola, Iowa. The final two IIAC games will be at Luther and home against Cornell.
