Loras 4th at Dan Huston Invite


The Loras College women's cross country team placed four runners in the top 20 in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday and finished in fourth place in the 10-team field. The Duhawks finished with 88 team points, two spots out of third and 28 spots ahead of fifth.


Leading the way for the Duhawks was senior Genna Kinley, who posted a 23:30 time and finished in sixth place.


A trio of Duhawks finished in the teens, keeping together on the familiar Iowa Conference course. Katie Flogel and Mary Rector finished 12-13, followed closely by Katie Hemesath in 18thplace. Flogel was 23 seconds behind Kinley in 23:53 and Rector was just a couple strides behind in 23:56. Hemesath came to the line in 24:22.


The next two Duhawks to come to the line came in 39thand 46thplace. Maria Kalb was fifth for the Duhawks and 39thoverall, coming home in 25:37. Kellie Wagner was sixth for the Duhawks and 46thoverall, finishing the course in 25:53. Hallie Martin rounded out the Loras runners in 51stplace in 26:15.


The Duhawks will host their annual meet next, the Dr. Robert Tucker Invitational, on Friday. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM at the Dubuque Soccer Complex.
