Loras 5, Central 1

Returning home for an IIAC tilt against an 8-4 Central College team, the Duhawks continued to spread the wealth offensively, knocking off the Dutch 5-1.

Loras controlled the first half, allowing just one shot on their way to a 3-0 opening half lead. Three of Loras' first half shots reached the back of the net, starting in the 12thminute. Kate Young drew a sea of red jerseys towards her and slipped a pass to Tonya Lohmeyer. Lohmeyer's head of steam continued deep into the penalty box as she buried her low shot past goalkeeper Steph Hasken.

Jayne Eslinger made it 2-0 just five minutes later when she converted a floating, falling down shot from the top of the box over the top of Hasken.

Danielle Vujovic sprung Kate Young towards the end line just shy of the 30 minute mark for Loras' third goal. This time Hasken couldn't hold Young's effort across the front of the goal, allowing a slow roller to cross the line.

The Dutch struck first in the second half when Brittany Hinton made a pass to Julie Wunder in the 64thminute. Wunder used one touch to beat Loras goalkeeper Hannah Wilson with a solid shot.

The Duhawks responded quickly, using Lisa Waltz's fifth goal of the year just three minutes later to get the lead back to three. Waltz was on the receiving end of a Jaclyn Tumberger cross to the back post to make it 4-1.

Loras closed on the scoring on Natalie Schlader's breakaway goal in the 74thminute.

The Duhawks forced Hasken into six saves. Hannah Wilson made one in the second half for Loras. Katie Chambers logged the first 45 minutes in the Loras goal.

The Duhawks moved to 4-0 at the halfway point of the IIAC schedule and host Wartburg College at 6:00 PM on Wednesday night in the Rock Bowl. The Knights are currently 3-0 in their IIAC games.
