Loras 5, Coe 1

The Loras College men's soccer team leaned on Louie Oswald in the second half of their IIAC contest in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Wednesday on their way to a 5-1 win. Loras moved to 3-0 in the IIAC with the win.

Midfielder Chris Comstock opened the scoring after just 90 seconds from a tough angle to give the Duhawks the early lead. The hosts used a corner kick to even the match late in the first half when Jacob Johnson headed in the lone goal for the Kohawks on the day.

With a 9-4 shot advantage, the Duhawks were generating some chances, but even at the break on the road.

The second half provided plenty of Loras offense as the Duhawks pressed for a game-winner and their third win of the Iowa Conference season.

That breakthrough goal came from Louie Oswald and opened the gates for a four-goal output during an 11 minute stretch.

Oswald struck twice in a 100 second span starting in the 70thminute to earn the game-winner and give Loras control of the game. Johnny Rummelhart squeezed in his second goal of the year in the 76thminute and then Oswald earned his hat trick on a penalty kick in the 81stminute.

Oswald jumped to the top of Loras' goal-scoring list so far in 2011 with his third, fourth, and fifth goals of the year. A total of 11 players have scored at least two goals for the Duhawks this year. The Duhawks have scored 42 goals in 12 games.

Loras hosts Central College (8-4, 2-1) on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
