Cornell 8, Loras 1

Buena Vista 8, Loras 1

After a couple of tough losses to Cornell College and Buena Vista University, the women's tennis team ended their regular season on Saturday, unable to put together a positive stretch of games.

The women finish the regular season 1-13 overall and 0-8 in the Iowa Conference.

Loras dropped eight of its nine matches to both Cornell and Buena Vista, with both of the team's wins coming from Est Mungai, who won her #5 singles matches 7-5 and 6-2 against Cornell and 7-5 and 6-4 against Buena Vista.

Mungai has had a consistent stretch on the back end of the schedule winning her past four singles matches.

Sarah Alt forced her match into a third set against both of her opponents at #2 singles. She fought back in the second set to win 6-3 against her opponent of Cornell after losing the first set 6-1, but dropping the final set 10-2, respectively.

In the Buena Vista match she again found herself victorious in the second set winning 6-1 after losing to her opponent to the same score in the first set, before losing in the final set 10-8.

Statistically, singles matches finished the season with an overall of 14-65, while doubles collected five wins throughout 37 matches.

This year's team will look to put a good string of matches together next weekend at the Iowa Conference Individual Tournament, October 14-15 when they finish their traditional fall season. They'll then turn their attention to growing during the non-traditional spring season.
