The Loras College volleyball team spoiled the volleyball portion of the University of Dubuque's Homecoming festivities on Wednesday night at Stoltz Sports Center, posting a 3-1 win in front of over 700 fans.

The Duhawks dropped the first set, 25-22, before rattling off three consecutive wins. Those wins weren't without their own drama. Loras controlled the second set to even things at 1-1 in a 25-18 decision before things heated up over the final two sets. The Duhawks came from behind to win the third set, and needed extra time to do so in the 27-25 win. They avoided one set point by the Spartans and trailed by as many as five points in the late stages of the set. Teresa Kehe's Duhawks were in a good position in the final set before the University of Dubuque mounted a comeback that was halted with the 25-22 win.

Loras had three Duhawks reach double-digit kills. Julianne Lord led the way with 14, Brittney Westermeyer followed with a dozen, and Regan Riley put down 10. Rachel Heiar and Westermeyer added key blocks down the stretch of the final two sets and Danielle Lewis was credited with Loras' only solo block of the night. Michelle Bahl continued to add to her Loras digs record with a team high 42. Five other Duhawks reached double-digit kills. Helping turn the defense into offense along with Bahl were Lord (13 digs), Riley (10), Beth Miller (11), Natalie Roling (16), and setter Julie Rogers (11). Rogers posted 42 assists in the win.

Loras will take a week and a half off from competition before heading to Elmhurst, Illinois for the Blue Jays Invitational on October 16-17. The Iowa Conference schedule resumes with a home match against Central on October 20th and the "Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness Month game the following night versus Clarke.
