Loras places seventh among non-Division I schools at Notre Dame

The Loras College women's cross country team placed their top five runners in the top half of the field at the National Catholic Championships on Friday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana.

Leading the way for the second straight week was senior Genna Kinley.


Kinley posted the seventh fastest time in Loras College history on her way to 51stoverall finish and 14thamong non-Division I competitors. Friday's time was an impressive 18:53.


Also in the top 100 was sophomore Mary Rector. She posted a 19:14 to finish in 86thplace.


Rounding out Loras' top five were Katie Flogel, Katie Hemesath, and Becky Hilby.


Flogel ran a 20:00 flat and Hemesath was just five seconds behind her. Hilby came in in 20:19.


Maria Kalb was next in at 20:23 and Kellie Wagner finish the course in 20:26.


The Duhawks' team total in the large field of runners was 519.


Next up, on the morning of Homecoming 2011, September 24th, the Duhawks will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota to run at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.
