Duhawks place fourth at Luther

Senior Dan McDermott paced the Duhawks on Saturday in the first race of the men's cross country season in 2011.

 

The Duhawks recorded a team score of 127 with their top five runners on their way to a fourth place team finish – the best among five IIAC entrants. Loras' average time was 21:18.

Individually, McDermott crossed the line in 21:04 to lead the Duhawks in 13thplace overall.

 

Following McDermott closely were Austin Steil in 21:12, and Steve Loran in 21:16.

 

Closing out the scoring were Chris Higgins and Rob Howe. Higgins finished the course in 21:29 and Howe in 21:32.

 

Additionally for the Duhawks, Ty Wittman finished in 21:41 and Ryan Sheeran was right behind at 21:46.

 

The Duhawks will return to the Norse's course for this year's IIAC Championship on October 29.

 

This Friday, the team will make their annual trek to South Bend, Indiana to run in the National Catholic Championships hosted by Notre Dame.
