The Loras College women's golf team made the trek to Storm Lake, Iowa and Lake Creek C.C. for their 2011-12 opener – The Buena Vista University Invitational.

Mother Nature had different plans than the 63 golfers who took the course on Friday and anticipated to have two rounds scored by the end of Saturday.

After much – but not all – of the second round had been completed, the Duhawks, as well as the ten other teams in the tournament were forced abandon their second round score cards.  The first round scores would be the only ones posted at this year's Buena Vista Invite.

Leading the way for the Duhawks was Abby Potts, who shot an 87 and tied for 11th. Potts was one of 20 rounds in the 80s. Only eventual medalist Sarah Paulson of Central stayed in the 70s.

Christina Jackson followed Potts on the Loras portion of the leaderboard with a 91. She was followed closely by Shayna Siegert's 94 and matching 95s from Kathryn Belanger and Megan Gregg. Beth Miller posted a 103 for the Duhawks.

Loras finished in 8thplace in the team standings (367), while just 13 strokes away was host Buena Vista and Northwestern (IA) at 354.
