USTFCCCA 2011 Women's All Academic Team

Last week 2010-11 seniors Heidi Tobin, Danielle McNally, and Tara Kilburg each earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All Academic Track and Field Team honors.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event at some point in either indoor or outdoor seasons. Participation in an NCAA Championship also fulfills the athletic component of All-Academic qualification.

Tobin, a thrower for the Duhawks who qualified for this spring’s NCAA III Championships in the Hammer Throw, graduated from Loras this year as a four-time winner of the award. Kilburg, who qualified this spring in the 1500, made the cut three times. McNally, who qualified in the discus this spring, was named to the list for the second time in her career.

"I'm really happy things ended (at nationals) for them," head coach Bob Schultz said last spring. "This is a small but gifted class."

Those hard work and gifts clearly extended in to the classroom. The trio earned degrees in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Biology, Biochemistry, and Spanish.
