2011 Rawlings/ABCA All-Region Baseball Teams announced

The Loras College baseball team had two members of their 2011 squad named to the 2011 Rawlings/ABCA All-Central Region team this week.

Senior outfielder Austin Brown and freshman pitcher Kendall Paluch made the cut this season, with Paluch landing on the second team and Brown the third team.

Paluch, from Joliet, Illinois made a name for himself quickly in 2011, earning a team high six wins on the mound for the Duhawks. He gave up four earned runs in March and four in April to lead the league with a miniscule 1.20 ERA in 60 innings of work. Paluch threw a no-hitter against Cornell in April and never gave up more than five hits in his eight starts Opponents hit just .146 against him this season. He was seventh in the Iowa Conference in strikeouts and is currently third in NCAA Division III in hits allowed per nine innings and eighth in ERA.

Brown, from Dyersville, Iowa patrolled center field all season and hit a team high .385. He was 10-of-12 in stolen bases and led the team in hits, doubles, RBI, runs scored, and total bases. He also hit safely in Loras' first 20 games back to the Midwest after the annual Florida trip. He was third in the IIAC in batting average and sixth in slugging. Brown registered 12 multi-hit games (including 5-for-5 efforts twice) and eight multi-RBI games. He committed just one error in 86 chances.
