IIAC Outdoor Championships RESULTS

The Loras College women's track and field team finished in fifth place at the 2011 Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Cornell College. They were just .5 points behind fourth place and comfortably ahead of sixth.

Tara Kilburg headlined the Duhawks' day, finishing second in the 1500 Meter race and third in the 5000 Meter to earn her two All-IIAC spots. She completed the 1500 Meter run in 4:44.93 and the 5K race in 18:33.61.

The other silver performance on the day came from Heidi Tobin in the Hammer Throw. Tobin threw a 148'-2" to claim second place.

Following Tobin in third place in the Hammer Throw was junior Meggen Elsen. Elsen threw her best toss of the day 147'-4".

Four other Duhawks registered third place finishes.

Caitlin Groeper was third in the High Jump at 5'-1", Kirsten Ferch was third in the Long Jump at 16'-0.5", Danielle McNally was third in the Discus at an even 138'-0", and Bridget McQuillan was third in the Pole Vault at 10'-2".

Loras scored an even 100 points in the event, just a half point behind Coe for fourth. They were a healthy 45 points ahead of Simpson, who were sixth.

The Duhawks have two "Last Chance" meets to try and add qualifiers to the list for the 2011 NCAA Championships. They will send some athletes to the Central College meet on Wednesday and to Augustana on Friday. A full list will be available this weekend of the qualifiers - who would head to Ohio Wesleyan for nationals.
