Football squad volunteers, offers muscle to local group for fifth straight year
Thu, May. 12, 2011 - [Football]

On Saturday, May 7th, 26 members of the Loras College football team gathered at Camp Albrecht Acres for a day of giving back. The mission was to help prepare the camp for the busy summer months ahead. Since 1975, the camp has served as a place for children with special needs to enjoy the outdoors and still be provided the care and assistance they require. Because the camp does not receive any state or federal money, they operate on a volunteer / donation basis.

For the fifth consecutive spring, the Duhawks chipped in with tasks such as painting picnic tables, power washing equipment and buildings, raking and leveling gravel roads, staining decks, gathering and burning fallen leaves and branches, and the removal of unwanted trees and brush.

The Duhawks will begin their 2011 season on the road on September 3, 2011 in Elmhurst, Illinois against the Elmhurst College Blue Jays and return to the Rock Bowl on September 10, 2011 to host the Rockford College Regents.
