Kruse, Tobin win events at Loras Open

Loras Open RESULTS

The Loras College track and field teams hosted their annual Open meet on April 30 and two Duhawks won events.

Kelsey Kruse took first place in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase finishing in 12:04.74, a full 20 seconds ahead of the runner up.

Heidi Tobin continued her success in the Hammer Throw - tossing another provisionally qualifying mark of 163'-8" to win the event by more than seven feet. Tobin was also second in the Discus.

Runner-up finishes for the Duhawks came from Molly Sieverding in the 100 Meter Dash (12.75) and Mary Rector in the 5000 Meter Run (19:18.12).

Danielle McNally finished third in both the Hammer Throw and Discus. McNally's Hammer Throw was 152'-11" and her Discus Throw was 124'-10". She was also fourth in the Shot Put at 41'-3.75".

Frosh Katie Langmeier was third in the High Jump - topping out at 5'-3". She was also third in the 400 Meter Hurdles in 68.55 seconds, just one second off of the first place time.

The Duhawks will travel to Monmouth College for the Fighting Scots' Invitational on Saturday, May 7 as they prepare for the IIAC Championships the following weekend at Cornell College.
