The Loras College men's golf team finished in third place at the Iowa Conference Championships in Iowa City on Saturday, thanks in large part to the three rounds in the 70's by Sam Herrmann, Joe Leibfried, and Noel Frideres.

The Duhawks earned two All-Iowa Conference spots in the top ten, led by 36-hole leader Sam Herrmann. A sophomore from Mount Vernon, Iowa posted back-to-back rounds of 73 in Storm Lake to take a lead into the final weekend. He finished with an 81 in round three and a 79 in the final round to finish in third place on the leaderboard with a four-round total of 306.

The other Duhawk in the top five was Joe Leibfried of Dubuque. Joe lowered his score in each of his first three rounds (77-76-74) to push his way up the leaderboard before posting an 83 in the final round. He finished fourth on the leaderboard with a 310.

After an opening round 84, Noel Frideres shot 78-79-79 over the final three rounds. His 320 was good for a three way tie for 15th place.

Bubba Carter finished with a 327. He improved from his score from his first round to his second on each of the two courses played. In Storm Lake, he dropped seven strokes from round one to round two (85-78). In Iowa City, he dropped 12 strokes from round three to round four (88-76).

Kyle Domeyer and Andrew Schroeder each played two of the four rounds for the Duhawks. They each averaged 86.5 rounds.

Loras' 1261 (+109) team score was good for third place in the team standings. They were just two strokes behind second and one ahead of fourth place. Central College won the team competition with a 1235 (+83).
