The Duhawks battled with #5-ranked Central College on Sunday after rain postponed Saturday's originally scheduled doubleheader. With final scores in Game 1, 5-0, and Game 2, 4-1, the Duhawks fell to 4-6 in the IIAC and Central improved to a perfect 8-0 Iowa Conference record.

Game 1, Central 5 - Loras 0

Game one was a pitching performance by Central's Kiley Lythberg, who was working towards a no- hitter until Deanna Angelini spoiled it in the bottom of the fifth.

The Duhawks pieced together a string of hits over the final three innings by Beth Miller, Tracy Sullivan, Sara Palczynski, Shelby Perkins, and Angelini, but they left five runners stranded on base.

Michelle Sabatini gave up only seven hits, and 3 earned runs.

Game 2, Central 4 - Loras 1

In the nightcap, Miller led off with a single, and eventually scored the lone run for the Duhawks on an RBI single by Sullivan down the right field line.

That didn't stop the Dutch offense, who took control with one run in the second, two in the fourth, and one in the seventh which led to the Dutch sweep. The Duhawks stranded eight more runners in game two.

Stephanie Popovich struck out five, giving up nine hits and four earned runs in the loss.

The Duhawks are scheduled to return to action and host the Cornell Rams on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:00 pm.
