The Loras College women's track and field team competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday and brought back a new school record along with two Duhawks provisionally qualified for nationals.

Seniors Laura Rieger and Heidi Tobin highlighted the day for Loras as Rieger broke the record in the 800 meter run with her 2:11.41 performance and Tobin's 49.78 meter toss in the hammer throw. Both finishes provisionally qualified each Duhawk for nationals and each will have many chances the rest of the season to solidify their qualification. Rieger took second place on the day and Tobin earned fifth. Tobin originally qualified a week before but improved her chances by her toss that was .40 meters longer on Saturday.

Among other standouts were fourth place finishers Katie Langmeier with a leap of 1.62 meters in the high jump, Kirsten Ferch's 10.76 meter leap in the triple jump, Meggen Elsen's 29.70 heave in the javelin throw, and Bridget McQuillan also came in fourth with her 3.10 meter leap in the pole vault. Danielle McNally had a great showing in a couple field events, taking fourth place in the discus with a throw of 39.86 meters and took fifth in the shot put with her toss of 12.88 meters.

The Duhawks 4x400 meter relay team brought home fifth place with a time of 4:02.83.

Up next, Loras will travel to Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois for the Meet of Champions on April 15 before hosting the Loras Mid-Week meet on April 20.
