Tobin provisionally qualifies in Hammer Throw

Wartburg Select RESULTS

The Loras College women's track and field team opened up their outdoor season April 2 at the Wartburg Select Meet in Waverly. The Duhawks accumulated 42.50 points on the day to finish eighth overall against a total of fifteen teams.

Heidi Tobin placed fifth in the Hammer Throw, top amongst all other IIAC competitors, with a toss of 155'-5'' to provisionally qualify for nationals in the event. Another strong performance was recorded by Katie Hemesath in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a second place finish with a time of 11:52.28. The Dubuque native's finish placed her second best in Loras history in the event, just two seconds from Kelsey Kruse's record setting time from last spring.

Freshman Katie Langmeier also entered the Loras record books with her high jump of 5'-3'' that placed her seventh in Loras history and was good for a second place finish. Danielle McNally also took second place in the shot put with 41'-9 '' heave. Tara Kilburg's 4:41.96 finish in the 1500 meter run was good for third place and Bridget McQuillan tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing the 9'-8'' mark. 

The Duhawks will head to Platteville, Wisconsin for the UWP Invitational April 9 next.
