Outdoor track season opens at Wartburg

The Loras College men's track and field team opened up their outdoor season at the Wartburg Select Meet April 2 in Waverly. The Duhawks finished tenth overall with 24 points scored.

Mike Roth placed fourth in the long jump with a 22'-5'' leap, which placed him with the eighth best jump in Loras history. Dan McDermott also etched his own name with the ninth fastest time Loras history in the 5000 meter run with his 15:14.14 finish that earned him a fifth place finish. Josh Goerdt came in fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.47 seconds, top amongst all Iowa Conference competitors.

The Duhawks competed well in a couple relays as well, finishing fifth in both the 4x100 and 4x400. Amongst the 4x100 team was Austin Arthofer, John Kawka, Sean Lewis and Ryan Seymour who recorded a 42.9 second finish. Lewis, Seymour, Kawka and Goerdt recorded the fifth best time in the 4x400 with their 3:22.98 performance.

Up next for the outdoor season, the Duhawks will head to Platteville, Wisconsin for the UWP Invitational April 9.
