The Loras College women's indoor track and field team competed in a pair of meets to try to improve their number of qualifiers for the NCAA Championships and did just that with Laura Rieger performance in the 800 Meter Run. On Saturday, the Duhawks competed in the North Central Last Chance in Naperville, Illinois and wrapped up their regular season at the Pointer Last Chance on Sunday in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

The senior from Minneapolis, Minnesota tied her own school record of 2:13.66 with her first place finish in the 800 Meter Run at North Central. There were many other strong finishes amongst the Duhawks in both meets, as a couple seniors barely missed the cutoff for a chance to compete in the NCAA Championships. Senior Tara Kilburg's 5:04.02 finish in the 1 Mile Run missed national qualifying mark by .02 seconds. Fellow senior Danielle McNally finished third and provisionally qualified in the Shot Put, but was not amongst the top sixteen finishes in the nation. McNally's throw of 43'-7'' at North Central was her personal record places her fifth all time at Loras.

Sophomore Caitlyn Groeper tied for first place in the High Jump at North Central with a leap of 5'-4.5'', which places her second on all-time list at Loras in the event. Another excellent performance was recorded by freshman Katie Langmeier who tied for second in the high jump on Sunday at UW-Stevens Point and also finished with the third highest jump in Loras history at 5'-4.25''.

Loras will now look forward to Rieger representing the Duhawks at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio March 11 and 12. Rieger enters the 800 Meter Run with the seventh best time. The preliminaries in the event will be on Friday at 7:35 p.m. and the finals on Saturday at 6:20 p.m.
