Seymour breaks Loras mark in multiple sprints

The Loras College men's indoor track and field team competed in two last chance meets and finished with a couple new school records. On Saturday, the Duhawks competed in the North Central Last Chance in Naperville, Illinois and wrapped up indoor season at the Pointer Last Chance on Sunday in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. 

Junior Ryan Seymour led the way earning first place in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 6.97 seconds, His performance also broke the Loras record and also set a new fieldhouse record at North Central. The Hempstead graduate followed up his record setting day on Saturday by recording the fourth fastest time in Loras history with his 6.48 second finish in the 55 Meter Dash. His times in the 55 and 60 Meter Dashes provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Championships, but he was not amongst the sixteen best times in the nation. Seymour missed a spot in the 55 Meter Dash by .04 seconds.

Seymour wasn't the only Duhawk breaking records, as sophomore Tim Derr broke the Loras mark in the 60 Meter Hurdles by finishing in 8.47 seconds - .01 seconds ahead of the previous Loras record.

The men's track and field team will now look prepare for the beginnings of the outdoor season - the Alumni Meet on Manatt Track inside the Rock Bowl on March 26.
