Derr takes first and ties facility record

Spartan Open RESULTS

The Loras College men's indoor track and field team competed in University of Dubuque's meet on Saturday and their performance was highlighted by sophomore Tim Derr. The Dyersville, Iowa native finished first in the 55 Meter Hurdles and also tied the facility record with a finish of 7.90 seconds. 

The Duhawks finished with other strong performances in a variety of events. Ryan Seymour finished third in a crowded field for the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.78. Loras finished very well in the 400 Meter Dash, led by a couple freshmen. Josh Goerdt and John Kawka took third and fourth in the event with times of 50.97 and 51.00, respectively. Another fellow freshman, Chris Higgins finished the 800 Meter Run with the third best time of 1:59.52. Sean Campbell led the Duhawks in the field events, finishing fifth in the Weight Throw with a heave of 48'-7.25".

Loras will next travel to Pella, Iowa for the IIAC Championships, hosted by Central College February 25-26. After that the Duhawks finish up the season with a couple last chance meets in March at Carthage and Stevens Point before the Indoor NCAA Championships March 11-12 in Columbus, Ohio.
