McNally provisionally qualifies in her second event for NCAA Championships

The Loras College women's indoor track and field team competed on Saturday in University of Dubuque's meet and finished with a provisional qualification for the NCAA Indoor T&F Championships and also a facility record. Senior Danielle McNally recorded the top throw in the Weight Throw with a heave of 53'-2.25" and also the second best throw in the Shot Put with an impressive 42'-4.25" hurl. The Monona, Iowa native is now provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor T&F Championships in both events, after qualifying in the Weight Throw on Saturday. McNally qualified for the Shot Put two weeks before in the Warhawk Classic in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Another fellow Duhawk had a memorable day on Saturday. Senior Laura Rieger ran a 59.13 in the 400 and not only finished first overall, but broke the facility record in the mean time. Rieger also competed in the 200 Meter Dash and finished third with a time of 27.27.

Among other Duhawks finishing in the top three on the day included Tara Kilburg, who came in first place in the 1 Mile Run with a time of 5:11.42. Caitlin Groper finished second in the High Jump with a leap of 5'-3.75". Loras took the top two places in the Weight Throw with Heidi Tobin finishing second behind McNally, with a heave of 51'-4.25". Sophomore Molly Sieverding finished third in the 55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.61. Another fellow sophomore, Kirsten Ferch took third place in the Long Jump with a 5.00m jump.

Next up for the Duhawks are the IIAC Championships February 25-26 at Central College in Pella, Iowa. After that Loras finishes up the season with a couple last chance meets in March at Carthage College and UW-Stevens Point before the Indoor NCAA Championships March 11-12 in Columbus, Ohio.
