The Loras College wrestling team defeated University of Wisconsin - Platteville 28-18 in their final dual meet of the 2010-11 season on Friday night at Platteville, Wisconsin.

The Duhawks quickly overcame an early twelve point deficit after a couple close decisions and a forfeit by rattling off five straight Loras victories. The five wins were started by Joe Wood (149#) when he picked up an 11-7 decision over Ryan Borman. Senior Erik Hanson (157#) followed Wood's performance with a high scoring major decision 23-10 versus Peter Crocco. The next Loras victory was thanks to Mitch Gansen (165#) with a tight 9-7 win by decision against Jared Hutterer.

Loras was able to deliver the knockout blow after two pins by Stephan Birt (174#) and Tiegen Podliska (184#). UW-P earned their final six points following a pin at the 197 weight class, but the Duhawks picked up six points of their own at 285 with a win by forfeit by Jeremy Klein.

The Duhawks completed their regular season with a 9-12 record, going 2-6 in the Iowa Conference. Up next for the Loras grapplers will be the Iowa Conference Championships on February 25 in Indianola, Iowa where they will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
