The Loras College wrestling team went 1-3 as part of the 2011 Iowa Conference Duals held in the Graber Sports Center on Saturday. Loras' win came in their first dual of the day against Buena Vista University. They followed with a pair of relatively close losses to Central and Luther, as well as a loss to #13 Cornell.

Matt Holmes (133#), Erik Hanson (157#), and Jeremy Klein (285#) each went 3-1 on the day, recording a total of five pins between them. Hanson's loss was a one point difference and Klein's loss came in overtime.

Stephan Birt (174#) and Joe Wood (149#) each went 2-2 for the Duhawks. Chris Reed (141#), Pat Pfantz (125#), and Tiegen Podliska (184#) each went 1-3.

Mitch Gansen made two appearances at 165 pounds, pinning Central's Reid Imerman and defeating Luther's Eric Moreno 8-5.

The Duhawks win over Buena Vista was a convincing one, 46-6. Their loss to #13 Cornell included wins by Klein and Birt, but dropped the other eight bouts. Five of the bouts against Central were decided by two points or less, including overtime losses at 174 pounds and heavyweight, with limited bonus points earned by the Dutch. Each team won five bouts in the Loras/Luther dual. Four of Luther's five win's included bonus points (10 total points), while just two of Loras' led to four bonus points.

Loras is now 2-5 in IIAC competition this year.

The Duhawks have two duals remaining on their schedule, Wednesday night's cross-town matchup at the University of Dubuque and a February 11 road contest with the Platteville Pioneers. The will also host the Duhawk Open this Saturday in Graber. The Iowa Conference individual championships, which determine the league's berths to the NCAA Division III Championships, will be held on February 25 at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
