Eight Duhawk swimmers win events in victory over Morningside

The Loras College men's swimming team defeated Morningside College in Omaha, NE on Saturday, 105-37.

The Duhawks won ten events, eight individual and two relays on the day. With eight different individual champions, Loras was able to use the depth of their team to take the dual meet. Champions on the day included Alec Schmidt in the 100 Yard Freestyle, Mike Gerken in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Colin Seidel in the 500 Yard Freestyle, Ricky Lukacs in the 200 Yard IM, Stephen Ball in the 200 Yard Freestyle, Andy Pape in the 50 Yard Freestyle, Sam Lozada in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, and Jason DeWane in the 100 Yard Backstroke.

In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the team of DeWane, Gerken, Tommy Castle, and Joe Gracyalny earned first place. Loras also recorded the top time in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, which included Pape, Schmidt, Ball, and Lukacs but their time was not scored.

The Duhawks return to the pool February 17-19 for the Liberal Arts & IIAC Championships in Cedar Rapids.
