The Loras College men's basketball team earned an important win in their 2010-11 Iowa Conference season on Wednesday night with a 77-65 win over Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

Junior center Dan Pawelski turned in one of his all-time best performances in a Loras uniform, scoring 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while pulling down a career high 16 rebounds. He also added three assists, a block, a steal, and a handful of hustle plays and tipped passes that helped Loras back into the win column.

Tim Kelly scored 14 points off the bench (of Loras' 16 total) on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. Mike Gleason, Connor Mooney, and Jordan Harrelson each scored 12 points, pushing the team total to five players in double figures.

Loras trailed 12-4 after seven minutes of game time, but rattled off 28 points in the final 13 minutes of the first half to take a hard fought 32-28 lead into halftime. Loras then scored the first six points of the second half to push their lead to double digits and take control of the game. The lead was as many as 18 points and never less than nine after the quick second half start.

The upstart Kohawks took just their second Iowa Conference loss of the year when they shot just 33% on their home floor. Loras moved to 6-11, 3-5 with the win. The Duhawks will take on 8-8, 4-4 Central College at 4:00 PM on Saturday in Pella.
